1 - RBI Deputy Governor N.S. Vishwanathan resigned

RBI Deputy Governor N S Vishwanathan announced his resignation, due to health problems. He was first appointed as the Reserve Bank’s deputy governor for a three-year term in 2016, following which, he was reappointed for one year.

As deputy governor, he was handling key supervisory and regulatory functions in the departments of banking regulation, co-operative banking regulation, non-banking regulation, Deposit Insurance & Credit Guarantee Corporation, the financial stability unit, and departments of inspection. Vishwanathan has served under three governors Raghuram Rajan, Urjit Patel and Shaktikanta Das.

2 - Wasim Jaffer announced retirement from all forms of cricket

Wasim Jaffer announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He became the first player in Indian cricket to feature in 150 Ranji matches. He represented India in 31 Tests between 2000 and 2008, scoring 1,944 runs including five hundreds and 11 fifties.

Overall, Jaffer has played 260 first-class games, scoring 19,410 runs at an average of 50.67. He has scored 57 hundreds and 91 fifties with 314 being his highest score.

3 - Bill Gates resigned from Microsoft board

Bill Gates has resigned from the board of Microsoft Corp. to devote more time to philanthropy. He had founded the company in 1975. He says he wants to focus on global health and development, education and tackling climate change.

Mr Gates has also left the board of Warren Buffett's massive holding company, Berkshire Hathaway. Mr Gates is listed by Forbes as the world's second richest man after Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and is worth $103.6bn (£84.4bn).

4 - Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath resigned

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath resigned ahead of the scheduled floor test in the state assembly. Supreme Court had directed to conduct the floor test in Madhya Pradesh assembly and the floor test proceedings. Congress government came into power in Madhya Pradesh in December 2018 but, plunged into crisis after exit of 22 MLAs and former union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

The Legislative Assembly has 230 MLAs. Majority in the House of 206 MLAs require the support of 104 MLAs. The BJP had 107 MLAs and the Congress had 92.

5 - Arundhati Bhattacharya resigned from CRISIL board

Arundhati Bhattacharya, an Independent Director of the company, has submitted her resignation as a director of the company Crisil Ltd, which will take effect on April 15, 2020. CRISIL is a global analytical company providing ratings, research, and risk and policy advisory services.

Arundhati Bhattacharya is a retired Indian banker and former Chairman of the State Bank of India. She has worked as Chairman of international payment platform Swift India.
