1 - Thinlas Chorol sets up first women's travel company in Ladakh

Thinlas Chorol of Ladakh has introduced woman trekking guide in the male dominated trekking industry. To train the other women as trekking guide, she setup the first women's travel company fully operated by women only. Every trekking season from April to September, she trains 20 to 30 rural women to work as trekking guide.

Government of India has awarded Chorol with Nari Shakti Puraskar and Women Transforming India award for her pioneering works in transforming life of rural women through trekking and entrepreneurship.

2 - Former Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia joined BJP

Former Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP President J P Nadda inducted him in New Delhi. His grandmother Vijayraje Scindia was among the founder members of the BJP and his aunts Vasundhara Raje and Yashodhara Raje are also in the party.

Mr Scindia, a four-time Lok Sabha MP from Guna, had reportedly been unhappy with Congress leadership for some time. He lost the race for chief ministership in 2018.

3 - Singer Taylor Swift tops Google’s 2020 list of most-searched woman

Singer Taylor Swift has been named as Google’s most-searched-for woman in the music of 2020. The data was published by Google on the International Women’s Day. Taylor Swift has won over 10 Grammys, 29 American Music Awards, 23 Billboard Music Awards, and has about six Guinness World Records.

Tennis player Serena Williams was the most-searched-for the female athletes. Actress Awkwafina was the most-searched-for woman in comedy, and novelist Toni Morrison was the most-searched-for a female author.

4 - Amitabh Bachchan roped in as brand ambassador of IDFC FIRST Bank

IDFC FIRST Bank has appointed Amitabh Bachchan as its first ever brand ambassador. Mr. Bachchan is the country’s most celebrated actor. He is a winner of countless prestigious national awards.

IDFC FIRST Bank was founded as a new entity by the merger of IDFC Bank and Capital First on December 18, 2018. IDFC First Bank raised up to Rs. 2,000 crore in February 2020 debt capital through bonds to strengthen capital base, boost reserves and support business growth.

5 - Priyanka Chopra joined WHO to spread awareness over COVID-19

Indian Actress Priyanka Chopra announced to join World Health Organisation to spread awareness over COVID-19. Priyanka urged followers to rely on authentic sources of information about coronavirus. Actress released documented videos on Instagram about the highly contagious disease and self-isolation.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The disease spread globally, resulting in the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic.

6 - Satyarup Siddhanta became 1st Indian to complete volcanic Seven Summit

Satyarup Siddhanta became first Indian to complete volcanic Seven Summit, entered 'Limca Book of Records'. He created history of being the youngest mountaineer in the world to climb both 7 peaks and 7 volcanic summits. Siddhanta holds record of Guinness Book of World Records for climbing highest volcano of Antarctica - Mt Sidley.

Satyarup Siddhanta holds various other records such as Asia book of Records, India Book of Records, Champions Book of Records, British Book of records etc. His major summits were Mount Everest, Mt Aconcagua, Mt Elbrus and Mt Blanc.

7 - Sunil Chhetri chosen for FIFA campaign against COVID-19

India football captain Sunil Chhetri has been picked by FIFA along with 28 past and present stars for world governing body’s awareness campaign to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. FIFA and the World Health Organization (WHO) have teamed up to combat the coronavirus by launching a new awareness campaign - ‘Pass the message to kick out coronavirus’.

The campaign includes 28 players like Lionel Messi, Michael Owen, Philip Lahm, Iker Casillas and Carles Puyol.

8 - Shilpa Shetty teamed up with “Fit India Movement”

In a first-of-its-kind step, the government's flagship fitness movement, Fit India, partnered with Bollywood actor and fitness icon Shilpa Shetty Kundra to provide her premium 21-Day Weight Loss Programme, including diet tips, free of cost on the Shilpa Shetty App (SS App), during the 21-day lockdown owing to Covid 19. Shilpa Shetty App will provide app's premium ‘21-Day Weight Loss Program’ free for all Indian and global users during period of lockdown in India.

Fit India Movement is a nation-wide movement in India to encourage people to remain healthy by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives.
