News 1 - Three Day Wildlife Film Festival events held in Shimla

A three-day Woodpecker Environment and Wildlife Film Festival was organized at Shimla’s Gaiety Theatre by WWF India in collaboration with CMSR foundation, Delhi. There was screening of 45 films, including several national Award winning films and five films from Himachal Pradesh.

This festival was organized with the aim to discontinue degradation of planet's natural environment and create a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. Only those films were showcased that involves discussions and change attitude towards life.

News 2 - India's first multicity marathon ‘The Great India Run’ flagged off from Delhi

India's first multicity marathon ‘The Great India Run’ began with the ceremony at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi. All the runners gathered at the Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon and began with the Haryana leg of run. The 5k fun run was also arranged at each of these venues that witnessed participation from youngsters in galore.

This run has proved to be one of the longest and most challenging in Asia. It will go through Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, finally ending at Mumbai. It aims to appeal our fellow countrymen to act wisely on their fitness and health.

News 3 - India's first e-court opened at Hyderabad High Court

India's first e-court was opened at High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad. It is the common High Court for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It was inaugurated by Supreme Court Justice Madan B Lokur who heads the e-Committee of the Supreme Court.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are the first two states in the country to be chosen for the Integrated Criminal Justice System (ICJS) project which will integrate the courts, police stations, prosecution, forensic science laboratories and jails. The purpose of this e-court is to ensure speedy justice for the litigants. It will also ensure easy and better access to justice for public as well as provide solution for large number of pending cases in the country.

News 4 - Tata STRIVE skill development centre opens up in Hyderabad

Tata STRIVE, an initiative of Tata Community Initiatives Trust, launched its first Skill Development Centre (TSSDC) centre in Hyderabad and will skill youth in Telangana in BPO, Banking, Financial Services, Insurance and Retail Industries.

The centre is located at Kukatpally and has 10 classrooms/labs which can accommodate up to 240 students. The training programs range from 6 to 16 weeks, and includes on-the-job training. Successful candidates are presented with a certificate, which is recognized by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

News 5 - The Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival 2016 begins in Guwahati

Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival

The fourth edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival began on 22nd of July. The Film Festival pays homage to the rich culture of northeast India and is dedicated to the film fraternity of the region.

Six short films and six full-length films from northeast states like Manipur, Assam, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh will be presented at the three-day fest. The festival includes some of the best movies, Documentaries and short films of the region.

News 6 - Bengaluru to host International Transgender Arts Festival

In a first of its kind, an International Transgender Arts Festival from July 29th to 31st was organized at the National Gallery for Modern Arts, Bengaluru. The performing arts festival aims to feature the work of people from the transgender community across the country and to showcase their talent in the fields of music, classical dance, spoken word poetry, film, theatre, etc.

The fest has been conceptualized by Srivatsa Shandilya, founder of the International Arts and Cultural Foundation. Narthaki Nataraj, the first transgender to receive the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, is one of the key participants.

News 7 - Reliance Jio will provide Wi-Fi connectivity to all Govt. Colleges in Puducherry

Reliance Jio Company under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program will provide Wi-Fi connectivity to all Government Colleges in Puducherry. It will also extend the facility to Beach Promenade, the tourist hot spot in the city. The State Government has requested the Mukesh Ambani owned company to extend it to commercial hubs of MG Road and Nehru Street.

Students, Tourists, Traders and general public will be greatly benefited by this.
