What is the full form of WWW?

The full form of WWW is World Wide Web which is the internet that we are using nowadays. Tim Berner’s lee, a British scientist in CERN, invented the World Wide Web (WWW) in 1989.

Originally it was meant to meet the demand for automatic information sharing between scientists of universities and institutions around the world.

Later on the commercial potential in web makes the growth of web in an exponential paced manner. It is kind of a store where all the websites and documents are stored and we access those using different websites and their domains. The resources are transferred to us using HTTP protocol when we type a web address of any website.

Why was WWW developed?

Originally it was developed for information sharing between different universities and other educational organizations across the globe. The main idea of the WWW was to develop a system that can share the information that was available at different locations easily between universities and organisations.

Invention and popularity

It was invented in 1989 by English scientist Sir Timothy Berners-Lee. It became popular in everyday life around 1993-94 when various websites started to become available for the general public and these websites became popular.

How does it work?

It works using the protocol called HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol). It is a protocol used by web browsers to communicate with servers and transfer data to and fro. Through this web browsers send requests to the server and the server, in turn, gives the data requested by the browser.
