What is the meaning of alloying?

Alloying- It is the process of mixing two or more metals, or metals with a nonmetal, to make an alloy.

An alloy is the combination of metals or metals combined with one or more other elements.

For example, Red gold is made by combining the metallic elements gold and copper, alloying of gold and silver becomes White Gold, Steel is made by alloying iron and carbon, Bronze is made by alloying copper, and tin.

Advantage of alloy: Formation of Alloy increases the tensile strength of the original metal. Alloys are more resistant to corrosion than pure metals because pure metals are chemically reactive and can be easily corroded by the surrounding atmospheric gases and moisture.
