What is the difference between genes and DNA ?

Dear Anisha,

The difference between genes and DNA are given below:

DNAGene
DNA is the molecule that is the hereditary material in all living cells.
Genes are made of DNA, and so is the genome itself
A Genome is simply the sum total of an organism's DNA
A gene consists of enough DNA to code for one protein
DNA is made up of the long chain of polynucleotides with adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine bases in it
Genes are made up of DNA or RNA
DNA transfers all the information for all the traits as well as to regulate gene expression.
A gene transfers information for a specific trait
