What is Stem?


In botany, the stem is the plant axis that bears buds, leaves and, roots at its basal end.

Function: The stem conducts water, minerals, and food to other parts of the plant.

In some plants, it may also store food as food storing modified stem, and in some plants green stems themselves produce food.
