What is inertia?

Inertia or Law of Inertia, also known as Newton’s first law of motion states that "An object will remain at rest or in its state of uniform motion in a straight line unless it is forced to change its state by the act of an external force".

In other words, it is the resistance of any physical object to any change in its velocity. This includes changes to the object's speed or direction of motion.
