What are Sunrise and Sunset?

The sun never rises and sets, it stays in its position at the centre of our solar system. It just appears to rise and set, because of the Earth's rotation on its axis.

Sunrise can be defined as the moment when the top of the sun's disc first breaks the plane of the horizon in the dawn. 

Sunset can be defined as the moment when the top of the sun's disc sinks below the horizon in the dusk.
