The formula to convert temperature in celsius to temperature in fahrenheit is given by the following

$T_{C} = \frac{5}{9} (T_{F} - 32)$

When numerically the temperatures in celsius and fahrenheit are equal

set $T_{C} = T_{F}$ like so:

$T_{F} = \frac{5}{9} (T_{F} - 32)$
$\frac{9}{5} T_{F} = T_{F} - 32$

$\frac{4}{5} T_{F} = - 32$
$T_{F} = - 40^{\circ}$

So the answer is -40 F = - 40 C
