Explain electromagnetic waves.
Electromagnetic waves are a composition of electric and magnetic fields. They are produced when an electric field comes in contact with the magnetic field. A charged particle produces an electric field. The field generally applies force on other charged particles. Positive charges travel in the direction of the field and negative charges travel opposite to the direction of the field.
These moving charges produce a magnetic field. This field generally applies force on other moving particles. Here the force acting on these charges is perpendicular to the direction of their velocity.
Here the electric field and magnetic fields would combine and an electromagnetic field is produced.
