GIven: A metallic pipe whose external and internal diameters are 10 cm and 8 cm has a height of 3.5 cm

To find:  Volume of the metal

Solution:

The external diameter of the pipe = 8 cm

The internal diameter of the pipe = 6 cm

External radius = 4 cm and it is denoted as 'R'

Internal diameter = 3 cm and it is denoted as 'r'

Height of the pipe 'h' = 3.5 cm

Volume of the metal = Outer volume of pipe - Inner volume of pipe

= πR2h - πr2h

= (22/7$ \times $42$ \times $3.5) - (22/7$ \times $32$ \times $3.5)

=176 - 99

Volume of the metal = 77 cm3
