A bouquet of flowers contains 10 dozen flowers. How many gladioli are present in the bouquet if 1/6 of the flowers are lilies, 1/8 are the roses and 1/5 are jasmines and rest are the gladioli?

Given: A bouquet of flowers contains 10 dozen flowers.

To find: We have to find the number of gladioli present in the bouquet.

Solution:

Total flowers = 10 dozen

Total flowers = 10 x 12 = 120

Now,

Number of lilies = $\ \frac{1}{6} \ $ x 120 = 20

Number of roses = $\ \frac{1}{8} \ $ x 120 = 15

Number of jasmines = $\ \frac{1}{5} \ $ x 120 = 24

So,

Number of gladioli = 120 - Number of lilies - Number of roses - Number of jasmines

Number of gladioli = 120 - 20 - 15 - 24

Number of gladioli = 120 - 59

Number of gladioli = 61
