There are two methods namely blogging and vlogging for sharing your personal experiences or observations with a community. These two methods involve sharing information through internet. The basic difference between a blog and a vlog is in their medium of information sharing, i.e., a blog is a medium in which the information is shared using text, images, etc. in the form a story. On the other hand, vlogging is a form of video-blogging. There is a tremendous increase in popularity of vlog in recent years. The popular platforms for vlogging are YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.

What is Blog?

Blog is a method of writing content such as text, gif, pictures, and so on. Blogs are hosted on websites using content management systems such as Joomla, WordPress, Blogger, and Drupal, etc. Blogs were developed during 1990s and became popular in 2003.

It is very easy and inexpensive to maintain a blog. The amount to host these blogs on a website has to be paid, or is free sometimes. Therefore, in short, we can state that a blog is a medium of sharing information in the form of written text content, images, pictures, etc. through the internet.

What is Vlog?

Vlog stands for Video Blogging. It uses videos as medium of information sharing. It can be hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Facebook, Instagram, or any other video sharing platform. Vlogs were started in 2000, but became famous after 2004. It can be hosted for free or can be paid for, depending on the facilities provided.

To create an interesting vlog, one needs to have equipment such as camera, tripod, mic, etc. Hence, it is relatively expensive to create and maintain a vlog as compared to a blog. Due to visual effects, the content in a vlog gains popularity much more than blog. Thus, in case of vlogs, a wider audience can be reached in less amount of time.

Expense Blog is an inexpensive form of information sharing. There is only a web hosting fees which is much less. Vlog could be slightly expensive due to the cost of camera, mica, tripod, etc.
Revenue Blogs generate revenue mostly through affiliate market and advertisement. Vlogs make more money through sponsorship, advertisement, affiliate links, etc.
