News 1 - Harry Potter and the Cursed Child book launched

Harry Potter Book

The book based on the script of the play 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' launched globally. The book is JK Rowling’s eighth Harry Potter story written along with Jack Thorne and John Tiffany.Thorne scripted the two-part play based on the original story, which begins 19 years after 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows', which was published in 2007.

It is the fastest-selling book for almost a decade. Nielsen Bookscan figures show 211,898 copies sold for a value of $5.49m in the first week of sales.

News 2 - “India Rising: Fresh Hope, New Fears” authored by Ravi Velloor

India Rising

A book titled India Rising: Fresh Hope, New Fears authored by Ravi Velloor was released in April 2016 by Singapore Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong. The book describes key aspects of the country’s development in the last 10 years under former India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, expressing fresh hopes but also new fears under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ravi Velloor is an associate editor of the renowned Singapore based newspaper – The Straits Times.

News 3 - R D Burmania: Panchamemoirs authored by Chaitanya Padukone released

Eminent showbiz journalist and Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award recipient Chaitanya Padukone's book titled R D Burmania: Panchamemoirs was released in July 2016. This Memoirs also features exclusive tributes to Panchamda from illustrious luminaries like Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Rishi Kapoor, A.R. Rahman etc.

The book depicts the journey of the late legendary musician Rahul Dev Burman, whose cabaret tunes still reverberate at pubs and discotheques. The author-film journalist began his career with an interview of Burman.

News 4 - President of India receives a copy of book ‘Grassroots Innovation’

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee received a copy of book ‘Grassroots Innovation’ authored by Prof. Anil K. Gupta of IIM Ahmedabad who is also the Vice Chairman, National Innovation Foundation at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The President stated that Dr. Gupta’s book was about stories of extraordinary men and women who are silently contributing in the innovation movement for the economic development and advancement of society. The President said that the Government should provide institutional support to the grass root innovators.

The Ocean of Churn narrates about the earliest human migrations out of Africa and the great cities of Angkor and Vijayanagar, medieval Arab empires and Chinese treasure fleets, the rivalries of European colonial powers and a new dawn.

The book offers exciting revelation while exploring remote archaeological sites, ancient inscriptions, maritime trading networks and half-forgotten oral histories.

News 6 - Vice President releases the book ‘Patriots, Poets and Prisoners: Selections from Ramananda Chatterjee's The Modern Review, 1907-1947’

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Hamid Ansari released the book ‘Patriots, Poets and Prisoners: Selections from Ramananda Chatterjee's The Modern Review, 1907-1947’ edited by Shri Anikendra Sen, Shri Devangshu Datta and Ms. Nilanjana S. Roy.

The Vice President congratulated the editors for the selection undertaken, and the publisher for bringing this anthology to the notice of the present generation of citizens. It was founded in 1907 by the visionary Bengali thinker and reformist, Ramananda Chatterjee.
