The management process starts with the conception phase to the delivery. It’s mostly used for the software development process, where the project must involve several steps for successful completion. Envision Phase
The first stage of the agile framework involves teamwork. The stakeholders, employees, clients, and everyone who’s part of the project (those who are working on it and those giving instructions or waiting for the delivery) must think of a vision for the project. This isn’t just about the client’s expectations.
You need to discuss other factors too. For example, how is the project going to benefit your organization? Identify the key members that should participate, which member should perform which task, what should be the deadline for the project, how many milestones must be there, what should be the quality standard, what budget you should allocate to each task, and so on. Before starting work, you need to plan how you’d like the team to deliver this project.
Speculate Phase
The second phase is about figuring out the project requirements and setting a realistic plan regarding how quickly each task can be accomplished without compromising quality. Here are the two things that this phase addresses −
The team should meet the stakeholders and project managers to discuss the most crucial requirements for the project. These are the initial requirements, which must be divided into user stories. Based on this, the team can come up with an estimated delivery time and cost for each user story. At this stage, you will get a clear picture of what things must be your priority and in what order you are supposed to finish each task.
Another aspect of this phase is determining the accurate milestone plan that will give you a better picture of how much it will take to finish developing each feature or hitting the planned targets.
Explore Phase
The explore phase is exactly what the name suggests. Once the requirements are established, the team explores various methods to accomplish the project. That’s also when the team clarifies each feature’s sub−set so they can come up with an appropriate plan to execute these tasks. When you work on something, you discuss all possible ways to finish that. You explore different methodologies, techniques, and tools that can speed up the work and improve quality while minimizing risks and cutting costs. The explore phase is executed simultaneously with the adapt phase discussed below.
Adapt Phase
For the successful completion of a project, you must implement each step in the right order and monitor your work throughout the project cycle. That’s what the fourth phase of the agile project framework is about. Just deploying a process isn’t sufficient. You need to match it with your planned strategies, review the results of your work, check the team’s performance, and check if everything is executed according to your plan. If your team goes out of track or you see any delays in the production or deliveries, you need to address them at this phase.
Adaption, as the name suggests, is about changing the work environment, revisiting your visions for the project, changing the procedures, or changing the entire project following the new customer requirements. Accepting feedback from clients and your employees, implementing them in your work, and adapting to the new requirements are pretty much all that this phase covers.
Close Phase
Once you have achieved all milestones and delivered the final product to the client, your project can be marked as completed. However, the job of a manager and the team doesn’t end with the project completion. Each project teaches us the right ways to execute projects, mistakes we must avoid in the future, and how to overcome challenges.
After the closing, you must conduct a meeting and start a discussion with a recap of the project, where you failed, what you did well, where you could have improved, and which processes could have been altered for better results. By the end of the discussion, you will have a report showing how much the project cost you and whether you were able to finish it by the deadline.
