How to Add Two Matrices using Python?
The easiest way to add 2 matrices in python is to loop over them and add the elements one by one. For example,
X = [[1,2,3], [4,5,6], [7,8,9]] Y = [[9,8,7], [6,5,4], [3,2,1]] result = [[0,0,0], [0,0,0], [0,0,0]] for i in range(len(X)): for j in range(len(X[0])): result[i][j] = X[i][j] + Y[i][j] for r in result: print(r)
This will give the output:
[10, 10, 10] [10, 10, 10] [10, 10, 10]
You can also use the numpy module, which has support for this.
import numpy as np X = np.matrix([[1, 2], [3, 4]]) Y = np.matrix([[2, 2], [2, 2]]) result = X + Y print(result)
This will give the output:
matrix([[3, 4], [5, 6]])
