What is Chlorophyll and Stomata?

Chlorophyll is the green-colored pigment present in the plants, algae and cyanobacteria. It is present in the thylakoid membranes inside the chloroplast. Leaves appear green in color due to the presence of chlorophyll pigment. Chlorophyll pigment absorbs red and blue color light and reflects back the unabsorbed green light. Thus, Chlorophyll absorbs light to provide energy for photosynthesis to occur.

Stomata are the tiny openings, present in the epidermis of leaves, stems, and other organs, to allow exchange of gases. The stomatal pore is guarded by two kidney bean shaped cells known as guard cells. It helps in the closing and opening of the stomatal pore.
