The ratio of the time taken by tap A to fill the bathtub to that by tap B is 5: 6. If tap A takes 36 minutes to fill a bathtub, how long would B take to fill the same bathtub?

Given :

The ratio of the time taken by Tap A to fill the bathtub to that taken by Tap B $= 5: 6$.

Time taken by Tap A $= 36$ minutes.

To do :

We have to find the time taken by tap B to fill the bathtub.

Solution :

Let the time taken by Tap B be x.

$\frac{5}{6} = \frac{36}{x}$

$5(x)=36(6)$

$5x=216$

$x=\frac{216}{5}$

$x=43.20$ minutes

Time taken by Tap B is 43 minutes 12 seconds.
