How can we find the square root of numbers?

Square root

The square root of a number is a value that can be multiplied by itself to give the original number.

The square root of 16 is 4 because when 4 is multiplied by itself we get 16.

For perfect squares finding square roots is fairly easy

First, we find the prime factorization of the number whose square root is to be found. After finding prime numbers, we pair up the same factors. For each of the pairs of the same factor, we write one factor and multiply all such factors to get the square root.

Eg: 625

625 = 5 $\times$ 5 $\times$ 5 $\times$ 5

There are two pairs of 5s. For each of the pair, we write a 5

and multiply

So √625 = 5 $\times$ 5 = 25
