Give one example each in which a force does(a) positive work(b) negative work, and(c) zero work.

Examples of force do positive work, negative work, and zero work are as below:

(a) positive work: When we push or pull the door of a room, the door opens or closes or moves in the direction of the applied force. It is an example of positive work done by force.

(b) negative work: When a ball is rolling over the surface of the ground then the friction between the ball and the surface of the ground is the negative work as the direction of the friction force is against the direction of the rolling ball's motion.

(c) zero work: When a cyclist moves around a circular path, then the work done is zero as the direction of the motion of the cyclist is always perpendicular to the circular path.
