Compare a simple bulb to a neon bulb. Which of them is better to use for the purpose of making sign boards?

Normal bulb: It is an incandescent bulb with a tungsten wire acting as a filament. When electricity passes through the filament the filament glows and ejects photons. The light we see is nothing but the ejected photons. By using inert gasses inside these gases inside these bulbs the efficiency has increased. But it's efficiency is not much high compared to modern bulbs.

Neon bulb: It was first invented by a French chemist Georges Claude in 1910. While working on inert gasses, he came to know that if electricity is passed through the inert gasses then they produce light. A neon bulb produces red/orange colored light.  A Neon tube consists of a hallow glass tube that has electrodes attached to each end. The electrodes are then connected to the voltage source, which in turn makes the tube glow. They have high efficiency. But the biggest drawback is that the glass tubes that contain gasses are fragile and difficult to replace.

Bulbs used in signboards:

Preferably Neon bulbs are much better than normal bulbs, because of high efficiency. Moreover, we can change the color in neon bulbs easily comparing to the normal bulbs. Furthermore, Neon bulbs are highly luminous and give eye-catching addition to any business front that will make a big difference for your visibility. They are also cheap and can be designed in a way we need. For all the above-mentioned merits Neon bulbs are used in sign boards comparing to normal bulbs.
