Let the number be = a

$\Longrightarrow \ a\ +\ \frac{2a}{3} \ =\ 55$

$\Longrightarrow \ \frac{3a\ +\ 2a}{3} \ =\ 55$

$\Longrightarrow \ \frac{5a}{3} \ =\ 55$

$\Longrightarrow \ a\ =\ \frac{55\ \times \ 3}{5} \ =\ 33$

$\Longrightarrow \ a\ =\ 33$

So, the number is 33.
