How to Create Barcode in Excel?


Introduction

Microsoft Excel is undoubtedly one of the most powerful tools for organizing and analyzing data. The tool is enriched with extensive features that improve the user's data analytics skills. In this article, we will learn how to generate barcodes in MS Excel. Manually creating barcodes and QR codes consumes lots of users' time. By default, the barcode font is not presented in Excel 2016, or Excel 2019. One of the simplest ways to use the barcode is to download the "3 of 9 Barcode" Font from the external website Dafont.

Example 1: To generate a Barcode in Excel

Step 1

Open a new worksheet and enter the sample data like "Employee ID" in the C1 cell, enter the numeric IDs in the range C2:C11, and write the text "BarCode" in the D1 cell.

Step 2

Enter the formula ="*"&C2&"*" in the D2 cell and then press Enter.

Step 3

Drag the "+" sign in the below right corner of the "D2" cell, drop it to "D11" and press Enter to fill the similar values for the remaining cells as shown in the below image −

Step 4

Now, select the data ranges from D2:D11. Go to the "Home" tab and then click on the "Font" tile and select the "3 of 9 barcode" font as highlighted below image −

Step 5

Therefore, barcodes are inserted in the specified range as shown below image −

Save the worksheet for future use.
