function loadXMLDoc(filename) {
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
xhttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
} else // code for IE5 and IE6 {
xhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
xhttp.open("GET",filename,false);
xhttp.send();
return xhttp.responseXML;
}
</script>
</head>
<body>
<script>
xmlDoc = loadXMLDoc("/dom/node.xml");
x = xmlDoc.createAttribute("City");
x.nodeValue = "fourth";
y = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("Email");
y[0].setAttributeNode(x);
document.write("City attribute is been set at the place: ");
document.write(y[0].getAttribute("City"));
</script>
</body>
</html>
