1 - GDP Growth Rate @ 8.2%

GDP Growth Rate

The Office of Central Statistical Department has released the estimates of GDP for the first quarter for the period 2018-2019. For the first quarter, the real growth of GDP is reported at 8.2%. In the field of consumption expenditure, the growth rate is 8.4% and in the field of fixed investment, the growth rate is 10.0%.

2 - ADB Released 2018 Flagship Statistical Report

Flagship Statistical Report

Asian Development Bank has released its Flagship Statistical Report for the year 2018 for Asia and the Pacific region. This report carries the latest available economic, financial, social, SDG indicators, and environmental statistics for all the 48 regional members of ADB.

Divided into three sections, report emphasizes on “technological innovation for Agricultural Statistics. Further, report says that Asia and the Pacific region continues to grow in GDP. Their labor forces have been reduced and its shifting from agriculture towards employment in industry and services. As a result of such substantial growth, about 780 million people from all these regions moved out of extreme poverty between the period 2002 and 2013.

3 - UN Reported: Hunger Reached ‘Alarming’ Ten-Year High

Zero Hunger

As per the UN’s annual multi-agency flagship report on the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World, hunger remains the same as was ten years ago in 2017.

This report is a part of UNDP’s Sustainable Development goal namely Zero Hunger by 2030. According to this report, there is an increase of hungry people from 777 million to 821 million in 2017, which means - one in every nine people, does not have enough food to eat. Besides, 51 million children aged under five are under a higher risk of morbidity and mortality.

4 - IGI Airport 16th busiest in the world: ACI Report 2018

IGI Airport

Airport Council International (ACI) has published the Annual World Airport Traffic Report 2018, the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) of India ranked 16th busiest in the world. In 2016, IGI’s rank was 22nd.

The first place is secured by Atlanta Hartsield-Jackson Airport located in Georgia, Atlanta, USA followed by Beijing Airport (2nd rank), Dubai International Airport (3rd rank), Tokyo and Los Angeles Airport (4th and 5th rank).
