1 - Ravi Venkatesan appointed as UNICEF Special Representative
UNICEF has appointed Ravi Venkatesan as its special representative of young people. His major role will be to provide strategic guidance and support UNICEF globally.
Serving as the chairman of the Bank of Baroda (between 2015-18), he also served as the chairman of Microsoft India and the chairman of Cummins India and co-Chairman of Infosys Ltd.
2 - Gita Gopinath appointed as Chief Economist of IMF
Currently working as John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard University, Gita Gopinath has been appointed as the chief economist of International Monetary Fund.
Besides, she is co-editor of the American Economic Review and co-director of the International Finance and Macroeconomics Program at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).
3 - Rangachari Sridharan appointed as Chairperson of NFRA
Former IAS officer Rangachari Sridharan has been appointed as the first chief of National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA).
Sridharan, a 1983 batch (retired) IAS officer of Karnataka cadre, will hold the post of chairperson of NFRA for next three years or till the incumbent attains the age of 65 years.
4 - Sanjay Verma appointed as India’s Ambassador to Spain
A 1990 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, Sanjay Verma has been appointed India’s Ambassador to Spain. He is currently working as the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs.
On the other hand, Arindam Bagchi, a 1995 batch IFS official, has been appointed as the next Indian Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia.
5 - Vikram Limaye appointed as Director on the Board of WFE
Vikram Limaye has been appointed as Chairman of the Working Committee (WoCo) and Director on the Board of the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE). His appointment is confirmed at the 58th General Assembly and Annual Meeting of WEF in Athens, Greece.
Currently, Vikram Limaye is working as the Managing Director and CEO of National Stock Exchange of India (NSE).
6 - Suchitra Durai Will Be New Ambassador To The Kingdom of Thailand
Suchitra Durai has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Thailand.
1988 batch Indian Foreign Service Officer, Suchitra Durai is currently serving as the High Commissioner of India to Kenya.
