News 1 - Laxmi Ratan Shukla of Bengal announced his retirement.

01-Jan − Former captain of the Bengal Ranji Trophy team, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, announced his plans to retire from all forms of cricket. The veteran all-rounder played 137 First Class matches and accumulated 6217 runs and bagged 144 wickets. He also played 3 ODIs for the national team.

News 2 - South African Test Cricket Team Captain Hashim Amla resigned.

06-Jan − South African Cricketer, Hashim Amla resigned as Test Captain. AB de Villiers will be the new Captain for the remaining two Tests. Amla was named Graeme Smith's replacement as captain in mid-2014. He led the team to four wins, six draws and four defeats in 14 Tests.

News 3 - Pakistan Cricketer Imran Farhat announced retirement from International Cricket.

27-Jan − Pakistani batsman Imran Farhat announced his retirement from international cricket after he received No-Objection Certificate from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Imran Farhat will now be able to play the Masters Champions League (MCL), a 20-20 Cricket League played by retired international cricket players.

News 4 - Olympic diving gold medalist Matthew Mitcham announced retirement.

28-Jan − Australian Olympic diving gold medalist, Matthew Mitcham, announced his retirement from the sport. Mitcham won the 10m platform at the 2008 Beijing Games, and also claimed gold in the 10m synchro platform at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
