CoffeeScript Date - toLocaleDateString()



Description

The toLocaleDateString() method converts a date to a string, returning the "time" portion using the operating system's locale's conventions.

Syntax

Given below is the syntax of toLocaleDateString() method.

Date.toLocaleDateString()

Return Value

Returns the "date" portion using the operating system's locale's conventions.

Example

The following example demonstrates the usage of the toLocaleDateString () method in CoffeeScript. Save this code in a file with name date_tolocaledatestring.coffee.

dt = new Date "February 19, 2016 23:15:00"
dt.toLocaleDateString()    
console.log dt

Open the command prompt and compile the .coffee file as shown below.

c:\> coffee -c date_tolocaledatestring.coffee

On compiling, it gives you the following JavaScript.

(function() {
  var dt;

  dt = new Date("February 19, 2016 23:15:00");

  dt.toLocaleDateString();

  console.log(dt);

}).call(this);

Now, open the command prompt again, and run the CoffeeScript file as shown below.

On executing, the CoffeeScript file produces the following output.

Fri Feb 19 2016 23:15:00 GMT+0530 (India Standard Time)
