CoffeeScript Date - setTime()


The setTime() method sets the Date object to the time represented by a number of milliseconds since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 UTC.


Given below is the syntax of setTime() method.


Parameter Detail

  • timeValue − An integer representing the number of milliseconds since 1 January 1970, 00:00:00 UTC.


The following example demonstrates the usage of the setTime() method in CoffeeScript. Save this code in a file with name

dt = new Date "February 19, 2016 23:15:00"
dt.setTime 5000000 
console.log dt

Open the command prompt and compile the .coffee file as shown below.

c:\> coffee -c

On compiling, it gives you the following JavaScript.

// Generated by CoffeeScript 1.10.0
(function() {
  var dt;

  dt = new Date("February 19, 2016 23:15:00");




Now, open the command prompt again, and run the CoffeeScript file as shown below.

c:\> coffee

On executing, the CoffeeScript file produces the following output.
