CoffeeScript Date - getDay()


The getDay() method returns the day of the week for the specified date according to local time. The value returned by getDay() is an integer corresponding to the day of the week: 0 for Sunday, 1 for Monday, 2 for Tuesday, and so on.


Given below is the syntax of getDay() method.



The following example demonstrates the usage of the getDay() method in CoffeeScript. Save this code in a file with name

dt = new Date "February 19, 2016 23:15:00"
console.log "The day of the current date object is : " + dt.getDay() 

Open the command prompt and compile the .coffee file as shown below.

c:\> coffee -c

On compiling, it gives you the following JavaScript.

// Generated by CoffeeScript 1.10.0
(function() {
  var dt;

  dt = new Date("February 19, 2016 23:15:00");

  console.log("The day of the current date object is : " + dt.getDay());


Now, open the command prompt again, and run the CoffeeScript file as shown below.

c:\> coffee

On executing, the CoffeeScript file produces the following output.

The day in the current date object is : 5
