What is NDA?

NDA can be expanded as National Defence Academy. It is an exam conducted by UPSC which also organizes exams for other government recruitment like IAS, IPS, CDS, CAPF, CMS, etc. The NDA exam is conducted to select candidates for the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and Indian Army. The exam is held in the months of September and April each year. The exam includes a written test along with SSB interviews.

NDA Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who want to go for the NDA exam have to meet certain eligibility criteria. Their age should be between 16.5 and 19.5 years. They have to complete their intermediate or any other course equivalent to intermediate. They also have to be physically and medically fit to apply for the exam. Candidates should belong to India, Nepal, or Bhutan.

History of NDA

National Defence Academy came into existence in 1954. This academy has been training the officers of the army, air force, and navy from the time it was launched. Many top-ranking officers have been produced by this academy. The previous location of NDA was in Khadakwasla near Pune but now it is shifted to Pune in 1974. The Indian government has now given the status of Institution of National Eminence to NDA.

  • Its duration is 5 hours out of which 2:30 hours for math and the next 2:30 hours for GAT

  • Papers are conducted for Mathematics and Generate Ability Test

  • Maths exam consists of 120 questions while GAT has 150 question

SSB Interview

  • The interview is offline and face-to-face and group activities are held

  • The duration of the interview is 5 days

  • Papers include testing, psychological test, group testing officers test, personal interview, and conference

  • Total marks are 900
