Course Description
This course introduces you to seismic acquisition from marine streamer to land 3D swath data. It emphasizes a broadband source and receivers to record low frequencies which are necessary to reduce sidelobes in the data where thin beds may hide. This course stresses high density to acquire near offsets for lithology identification, reduction of spatial aliasing, and ability to see subtle faults to stay in the zone during drilling of the horizontal laterals. It also is about the far offsets to illuminate any AVO signatures in the data which will subsequently improve our inversion results which will enhance our reservoir characterization.
This course also goes into issues like ghosting which creates frequency notches in the seismic data.
Another element of this course that ties seismic acquisition to 3D interpretation inlines and xlines and how this relates to CDP's.
It tries to also discuss new techniques in seismic acquisition which reduces costs and improves quality.
