Course Description

Concept: Landscape in other words we can call as Servers, and TR-Transport request- is whenever we make any changes to the configuration then the system will pop up a TR number.TR number will be used to transfer the configuration from one client to another client- this will be within the server or outside server to server. The below process is purely organization dependent and it may vary from company to company. Server: A server is a device where a set of programs has been installed to respond to and save the queries into the database (Don’t worry if you don’t understand)Client: The client is the base where it will be always located in the server- and any queries to the client we can run in the server program (Don’t worry if you don’t understand).Note: One server may have N number of clients.SAP Point of View explanation: Here SAP, in any company, we have 3 servers, the landscape concept may vary from business to business and organization to organization. But every company will have all these 3 servers to maintain the company standards. We can have SPRO settings option in only the Development server and the remaining two servers will not show any SPRO settings. Movement of one server to another server will be done by the SAP Basis team, and a ticket needs to be created by our side to move the data.1.     Development server1)Sand Box2)Unit test2.     Quality Check server3.     Production ServerHere above mentioned we have 3 servers and 1st server contains 2 clients. Client 1: Sandbox- where sandbox will be used for testing and development purpose and before implementing in the main server, the consultant needs to test in Sandbox, and once the consultant believes that 100% accurate then he will be implementing in Unit test Client.Important note: Whatever the implementation we are doing it’s a custom and original one is developed by SAP and it been hidden in the systems- we will be calling a Golden client. Whenever something goes wrong then we can reset all things from this client. Client 2: Unit test: Here in the above step, it's a sandbox and where we will test for samples once we are succeeding there then we can input the same in the unit test by transferring the ticket to unit test from Sand box—SCC1 can be used to move. For this step, no need to release the TR, we can move within the client without releasing and without Basis help. Now once you moved to unit test, Use the same TR number for moving-which will be done by BASIS team.2. Quality Check server-QACNow TR needs to be released to move from one client to other client with the help of BASIS tam and TR needs to be released with T-code SE01TR number should be provided to BASIS team with raising a ticket or email-Depends on your organization process, once the BASIS team checks and moves the configuration to QAS Server.Basis team will transfer the TR from one serer to another server by using STMS.Here the testing will be done by Superuser from Purchasing team and in this server, they cannot open SPRO-Only Transactional data can be opened here the testing will be done and if everything is good then they will reply to the MM consultant that everything is fine to move to production, and the same TR can be transformed to production for real-time.If there is any failure in testing, then same thing will be replied to MM consultant and another TR needs to be created with the correct configuration and repeat the process up to the QAC test pass. Once the TR is released and moved to quality then we cannot use the same TR for other amendments. If the configuration is tested and passed, then we will follow the below process.3.Production ServerAs per the above step, if everything is good then the QAC team will be informing us regarding the working of the configuration and once after confirmation then we will ask the BASIS team will to move the TR-Configuration from QAC to Production. Once the Configuration is moved to production then they will inform in ticket regarding confirmation then after we will inform the end user to test the configuration by processing some real data. Once the user confirms with UAT- User acceptance test then we can close the ticket. Note: UAT is mandatory for the User and only after that we can close the ticket.Important Notes: Access for Different Roles in SAP Landscape: SAP Consultant: SAP Consultant will be having access to all these servers.
1.     Development- where SPRO Configuration settings must be done.
2.     Quality- Having access for QAS server
3.     Production- Only Display access for the production server.SAP Superuser: SAP Superuser will be having access to 2 servers1.     Development- No Access2.     Quality- Having access to QAS server3.     Production- Having access to the Production server to make changes for real time dataSAP End user: SAP Super user will be having access to 1 server.1.     Development- No Access2.     Quality- No Access3.     Production- Having access to Production server to make changes for real time dataFirefighter ID: Sometimes end users were not able to make changes to data or release the PR/PO and some other data.In emergency case they can request a consultant to release the data instead of them. For this we have given access to FF ID, where we can work upon approval from the manager and respective solution lead then we can process further make changes.Service Now: Service Now is the toll where stakeholders and consultants work on tickets. Here each request/problem the ticket needs to be created by the requester and the consultant needs to work on that based on the ticket.Time will be recorded the time of ticket handled and resolved. Each company uses some ticketing tool to receive the tickets and each department will have a respective group ID, and it will be routed to the respective persons by a separate team.Once we handle the ticket then each time ticket will be handled to the same person. Each conversation needs to be recorded and send to the tech lead for the final approval of making changes. Here changes will be done only 2 times in a month and every change will be recorded and final approval will be taken from solution manager and 2 days in a month we will make configuration changes. If there is a priority request then we can do in the same day with appropriate approvals from respective team lead and business justification is required from requester that why they want it as urgent and this completes the TR process.- September 17, 2019 27 comments: Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

ASAP Methodology process for SAP Consultants- ALL Modules mandatory concept

ASAP MethodologyConcept: ASAP stands for Accelerated SAP methodology, where it’s an important SDLC (Software development life cycle) software to be used for implementation of projects. whoever is using SAP should follow the ASAP methodology process for the implementation process, its an SAP's own and the best methodology to follow to cut down costs. The SAP implementation process takes a long time and it requires many department manpower along with a lot of effort to understand the AS-IS and TO-BE process to implement and satisfy the clients. It will be very risky if the proper plan is not determined to implement, as this purpose starting all the managers and department heads will involve making sure everything is in I proper way by following the ASAP methodology process.ASAP methodology is a roadmap for the process, where consultants/managers should follow their guidelines as per ASAP methodology, Project management team will be taking care of the smooth functioning of the process by updating clients. ASAP methodology consists of several phases that are included in SDLC as mentioned above, here it divides the ASAP methodology phases and marks time for each phase and it divides the work as per the modules (SD/MM/PP/QM)Each phase will be called as Milestone and every milestone needs documents that we have done and gets that approved from clients accordingly.ASAP methodology provides guidelines and a roadmap for implementation/Enhancement /Customization that requires as per the project support.Phases of ASAP Methodology:1.Project Preparation2.Business Blueprint3.Realization4.Final Preparation5.Go Live6.Production support/Post-productionWe have all 6 phases, which are important to implement as per the process, we are discussing in detail all the phases.Introduction to client and bidding for project: Before all these 6 phases, whoever is interested to move to SAP software, then they will be approaching the software company directly to buy the software.Note: Once they have bought the software that the client uses to bid for the project implementation with several companies, bidding happens in terms of price and time taken to finish the project.Note 2: There will be one more bidding with service companies for production support, here Implementation and production support clients are different by 90%, because of some privacy and quality purpose 2 biddings and 2 clients will get selected and given the project as per that.1.Project Preparation: Once the client has been decided on this implementation partner, this 1st phase will start and here they will decide on Landscape requirements first.Kick off meetings, Scope, and out-of-scope modules will be discussed for implementation.Maintain server Information like how many servers are required and how many test clients are required in each server like we have unit tests and integration testing.Even in quality and production, we can have different clients as per the requirements, suppose a big MNC company may have 6 production clients in the production server and accordingly they will have 6 clients in the development server so that independent requirements can be enabled as per the client and no need to depend on other clients.Project cost and resources required from how many modules are there for your requirements and each module contains members to complete the whole process. All the above requirements will be discussed by the higher management (managers and business members) where a few from clients and a few from an organization that is implementing. The project management team (PM) will study the organization's requirements with respect to interfaces, how many interfaces are required, and the present process and requirement of interfaces. Here we will study all possible things and their process called AS-IS.The timeline will be for this process in 2-3 Months2.Business BlueprintThis is a very important phase in the business, where functional consultants will take care of gaps by finding as-is process to to-be process and complications that is possible with SAP if not interacting with ABAP to develop those configurations, so all these things are handled in this phase. If any requirement is not possible with SAP then ABAP’er will try to do enhancement and this scenario will be in GAP analysis, same like this there will be many cases where GAP analysis will come into the picture to fill the process and mention to the client that this is the gap between your process and to-be process. What are the integrations required with other departments like with MM-FI, MM-SD, MM-PP, and MM-QMInterfaces/what kind of interfaces is present, so as per that what methodology should be used for processing?Functional consultants will work first with all functional requirements and once this is done then if any gaps and development are required the technical consultant will come into the picture. The testing team will be testing all the configurations prepared.Based on As-Is and To-be documents we will create a BBP document and get it signed by clients. This phase will take 2-3 months.Example: in the old process, if you are an Oracle tool then there will be a price indicator increase or decrease option shown by the system but in SAP we don’t have that functionality. So, this will be maintained in as GAP and mentioned in the BBP document and gets signed that -by ABAP we will do this customization (Refer FRICWE concept)3.Realization phase: This is the phase where all functional consultants carry out their customization and even development is also done if required for customization, so all the customizations/integrations/interfaces are completed- all back-end SPRO settings and everything will be moved to the quality server by basis team- All testing’s for the TR’s will be done in Quality server. All the integration testing and unit testing take place in this phase.BPP -Business process procedure has been created in this phase and will be taken from the superuser with signed. This phase will take 2 months.4.Final Preparation phase: Final preparation is the phase where we will move all the TRs will be moved to production and user manuals are created by taking UAT from super users and cut-over activities like master data uploading for material and vendor and initial entry of stock in inventory.UAT-User acceptance test- which will be done by power users like whether is it working, or any issues related to configuration.Training to the end users related to the process. After the final preparation phase, we should make sure only production activities running smoothly without major interruptions.Testing of every phase and UAT manuals/cutover plans need to be approved in this phase where data uploading by using LSMW and BAPIKnowledge transfer and documentation of all processes with UAT documents. This phase will take 2-3 months5.Pre-Golive Phase: The legacy system should be stopped to use in this phasePreparing all the data and ensuring all the data has been migrated and if anything, pending from LSMW to BAPI, should be completed and inventory data and defining class/characteristics for release procedure, number ranges for the document types and everything will be done in production server.Ensure all the TRs are moved to production and interfaces are working properly for monitoring purposes. This will take 1-2 months to complete6.Postproduction support: In this phase, we will be resolving queries related to purchasing and if required giving training to end users.
