Python - Check if the Pandas Index only consists of integers

PythonServer Side ProgrammingProgramming

To check if the Pandas Index only consists of integers, use the index.is_integer() method in Pandas. At first, import the required libraries -

import pandas as pd

Creating Pandas index −

index = pd.Index([5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150])

Display the Pandas index −

print("Pandas Index...
",index)

Check whether index values has only ints −

print("
Index values only consists of integers?
",index.is_integer())

Example

Following is the code −

import pandas as pd

# Creating Pandas index
index = pd.Index([5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150])

# Display the Pandas index
print("Pandas Index...
",index) # Return the number of elements in the Index print("
Number of elements in the index...
",index.size) # Return the dtype of the data print("
The dtype object...
",index.dtype) # check whether index values has only ints print("
Index values only consists of integers?
",index.is_integer())

Output

This will produce the following output −

Pandas Index...
Int64Index([5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150], dtype='int64')

Number of elements in the index...
8

The dtype object...
int64

Index values only consists of integers?
True
