New Project Manager: Effective Project Management Approach

Hello and welcome.

Project Management is more of an art than a science, hence the narrative of the conductor. In an Orchestra , the Conductor is the only musician who does not sign, however he has a deep understanding of the song. He can co-ordinate the song, the can communicate to the different instrument leaders the bring the song to life.  As  Project Manager(PM) you need to understand that if the song goes out of tune , something is wrong with your conducting abilities.

Now,  this conductors is also known as PM who applies Project Management skills and knowledge, to achieve effective project management in new role. The PM is trained to be a 'Critical Thinker' and gains skills to master project execution. There are valuable lessons to be learnt that normally takes years of experience to acquired. The main goal is to enable the new PM to think like a seasoned PM.

In the journey of being a seasoned PM,  in this course I go through the processes  key concepts, the character of a PM and the dynamics of a protect team. Then  the PM gets appointed to either an new or an existing project. These two scenario requires different skill sets that needs to be applied. A few tips of analyzing the project and avoiding five mistakes when undertaking new projects. Furthermore,  managing an existing project in a step-by-step process to follow is explained.

Throughout the teachings in the course, the information is drawn from practical experience of managing Capital projects.
