Course Description
Welcome to the course called Algorithms and data structures in java!
Algorithms and data structures are fundamental notions in computer science. Understanding how they can be exploited in combination for better programming implementations in terms of time complexity is vital for writing efficient code.
This course consists of lecture slides, videos, multiple-choice questions, and coding exercises. The entire course is completely online and is given in English.
Goals
What will you learn in this course:
- The student can explain, develop, and adopt iterative and recursive implementations of operations on several data structures.
- The student can explain and implement various sorting algorithms, and choose sorting algorithms for different problem scenarios.
- The student can choose search structures for different problem scenarios, and explain, implement, and analyze backtracking algorithms.
- The student can explain, develop and adopt implementations of various graph algorithms, and choose graph data structures for different problem scenarios.
Prerequisites
What are the prerequisites for this course?
- This course is mainly for students who are beginner Java developers with a high interest in writing efficient code.
- Therefore, Java programming is required as expected prior knowledge. Understanding the use of some Java data structures (e.g. arrays, stacks, queues, trees, graphs) is recommended but not required for this course.
