(a) Cytoplasm:

- The cytoplasm is a highly-viscous fluid that contains all the organelles and substances outside of the nucleus and is enclosed within the cell membrane of the cell.

- It fills up the cells and supports and suspends organelles and cellular molecules.

Other functions of the cytoplasm include

  • Maintain the shape of a cell
  • Cell movement
  • Material exchange

(b) Nucleus:

- Nucleus is a spherical organelle found in eukaryotic cells and enclosed by a nuclear envelope.
- It contains chromosomes, which is rich in DNA.
- Controlling gene expression, and DNA replication are the major functions of the nucleus.
