What is the difference between Laptop and Netbook?
Firstly, let us learn about laptops.
Laptop
A laptop is a computer designed for flexibility. It is a lightweight computer that generally weighs 4-8 pounds (2 to 4 kilograms), based on display size, hardware, and multiple factors. A laptop computer is also called a notebook.
Laptop computers can be modified into desktop computers. All peripheral devices including printers, scanners, and external drives are smoothly connected to the docking station so the laptop is only required to be plugged into the station and turned on.
Even regular keyboards and displays can be used with a laptop with the right hardware and software configurations.
Switching between a laptop and another desktop computer using a similar display, keyboard, and mouse can only need clicking a single button. Laptops use thin-screen technology in their displays, which is created to be brighter and adequate to be viewed at higher angles than regular monitors.
Laptops employ a mixture of pointing devices including a mouse, trackball, touchpad, and pointing stick. PC cards can allow the laptop to attach to a modem or network. A CD-ROM or DVD drive can be either connected or built-in.
Laptops can be powered by either battery or plugged into any 120 volt AC electronic outlet. The AC source generally charges the internal battery, which can then be used for several hours per charge based on usage, configuration, and power administration settings.
By utilizing a docking station, laptop computers can be transfered into desktop computers. Netbook
A netbook is a device that can implement the bulk of the functions of a desktop or laptop but is intensely mobile. Netbooks look like miniature laptops, with screens hardly exceeding 10 or 12 inches.
A netbook is a small mobile computing device that has less processing power and storage area than a laptop computer. Netbooks were originally generated as secondary computing options and addressed to the education industry. However, they have become increasingly famous, especially among candidates, bloggers, and those who generally use a laptop to access the Web.
A netbook can also be referred to as an ultra-portable, mini-notebook, subnotebook, mini-thin client, ultra-mobile PC (UMPC), or cloud book. Netbooks have several capabilities, such as Web browsing, Microsoft Office applications, photo administration, and multimedia.
Further, netbooks are perfect for cloud computing because this removes the problems associated with computer and software incompatibility, data loss, and printer failure.
Netbooks are appropriate for users with basic computing requirements including word processing, presentations, spreadsheet computations, and web browsing while notebooks are meant for users with a need for heavy computing functions.
