What is a placenta? Mention its role during pregnancy.
The placenta is a complex, circular tissue-like organ that forms the connection between the uterus wall and an embryo after the implantation.
Placenta's main function is to exchange nutrients, oxygen, and waste product between an embryo and mother.
The umbilical cord joins the embryo to the placenta in a mother's body.
