Note
The Preliminary Examination (PT) consists of two papers carrying 200 marks each.
The Preliminary Examination is of Objective Type (having multiple choice questions).
Only PT qualifying candidates are allowed for the Main Exam.
The number of candidates who qualified for the main exam is normally about 12 to 13 times of total vacancy.
The number of candidates who qualified for the interview is normally about twice of the total vacancy.
There is scheme of negative marking for incorrect answers (in PT).
For every incorrect answer, 0.33 marks will be deducted as penalty.
However, if a candidate chooses not to give an answer rather leave it blank, no penalty will be charged.
Each paper will be of two hours duration.
The written examination consists of 9 papers out of which first two papers (i.e. Indian language and English) is qualifying in nature.
Marks obtained in PT and in two qualifying papers are just qualifying and hence no role in final selection or ranking.
Marks obtained in rest seven papers (from Paper I to Paper VII of written exam) and in interview play major role in final selection or ranking.
