This course provides students with an introduction to the concept of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and its importance in the field of intelligence gathering. OSINT is a valuable resource for information gathering in today's digital age, as it provides access to vast amounts of publicly available information.
The course is divided into six modules, each covering a specific aspect of OSINT investigation:
Module 1: Introduction to OSINT In this module, students will learn the fundamentals of OSINT and its importance in the field of intelligence gathering. They will also learn about the different types of information that can be obtained through OSINT investigation.
Module 2: Creating a Sock Puppet This module covers the creation of a fake identity, also known as a sock puppet. Students will learn how to create a fake name and picture, which is a commonly used technique in OSINT investigations to gather information without revealing the identity of the investigator.
Module 3: Search Engine OSINT This module covers the different techniques used to conduct OSINT investigations using search engines. Students will learn how to use advanced search operators to find specific information online.
Module 4: Reverse Image OSINT In this module, students will learn how to use reverse image search engines to find information about an image online. This technique is commonly used to identify the source of an image or to find similar images online.
Module 5: Location and Geolocation OSINT This module covers the different techniques used to find the location of a person or device using online resources. Students will learn how to use online maps, social media, and other tools to find the location of a target.
Module 6: Email Address and People/Phone Number OSINT In this module, students will learn how to use email headers and other online resources to gather information about an email address. They will also learn how to find information about a person or phone number using social media, online directories, and other tools.
Throughout the course, students will have access to various resources for conducting OSINT investigations, including social media platforms, online directories, public records, and other open-source intelligence resources.
By the end of this course, students will have a solid understanding of OSINT and the different techniques used to gather information online. They will be able to conduct basic OSINT investigations and apply the techniques learned to real-world scenarios.
