To find: 

We have to find the cube root of the given number correct to three decimal places using cube root table.

Solution:

$34.2=34+0.2$

$\sqrt[3]{34}=3.240$

$\sqrt[3]{35}=3.271$

For the difference $(35-34)=1$,

The difference in the values $=3.271-3.240$

$=0.031$

This implies,

For the difference of $0.2$,

The difference in the values $=0.031 \times 0.2$

$=0.0062$

$=0.006$

Therefore,

$\sqrt[3]{34.2}=3.240+0.006$

$=3.246$
