Jawbone and Fitbit are the two popular companies that design and develop awesome fitness trackers. More often than not, the products developed by these two companies have the tinge of perfection and look as immaculate as they should be. Having said that, the fitness tracker of Jawbone is the attention grabber and self-proclaimed “world’s most advanced tracker” called UP3. In the case of Fitbit, it is the cynosure of all eyes which is rightly called Charge HR. Approach any individual with average technical acumen, and ask him about the best fitness trackers, he would name either Jawbone UP3 or Fitbit Charge HR.

The best thing about Jawbone UP3 is that it is compatible with iOS and Android devices. Jawbone UP3 resembles a bracelet in appearance. Needless to say, it is quite different from a smart watch. This device can be easily be synchronized via BlueTooth with its corresponding app on your smartphone. However, it is worth mentioning that there are various restrictions and very limited text messaging and voice messaging services.
Jawbone UP3 doesn’t have any LCD screen. It has a small notification light bulb that glows whenever somebody is trying to message you or call you. If left uncharged, this device works continuously for a week. And yes, Jawbone UP3 is sweat resistant. In fact, it is splash proof. It must however be remembered that Jawbone UP3 is not waterproof. So, do not take a shower wearing this device.
Just like its counterpart, Fitbit Charge HR is compatible with iOS and Android devices. Fitbit Charge HR resembles a smart watch in appearance. And yes, it is completely different from a smartwatch in terms of functionality. Just like Jawbone UP3, it can be easily synchronized via Bluetooth with its corresponding app on your smartphone and the same restrictions on text and voice messages apply.
Unlike Jawbone UP3, Fitbit Charge HR has a small LCD screen. As a consequence, you can identify the name of the guy who is trying to call you or send a text message to you. If left uncharged, this device works continuously for 5 days. Yes, it is sweat resistant and splash resistant. Never ever think of diving into a swimming pool wearing this device as it is not water resistant.
Aesthetic Appearance
Jawbone UP3 is known for its one size fits all model and it has survived the test of times. It is likely to survive in the future as well. As far as the colors are concerned, this device is available in only two colors- Black and Gray. You can expect more shades of gray in the near future. Not to forget about the feel, Jawbone UP3 feels like a silver bracelet. It gives a royal look to the person wearing it.
Fitbit Charge HR is available in three different sizes and four different colors. More colors are in the offing. Not to forget mentioning that Fitbit Charge HR looks like a smart watch. It gives a majestic and elegant look to the person wearing it.
Price
Let me keep this simple. Jawbone UP3 costs an estimated £150. On the other hand, Fitbit Charge HR costs an estimated £120. Fitbit Charge HR thus has an edge over Jawbone UP3 when it comes to pricing.
Complementary Features
Jawbone UP3 has its characteristic Smart Coach feature. It sends personalized notifications to your smart phone and tracks your routine. It thus reminds you of your fitness goals. Apart from this, it also tracks the amount of calorie intake and draws an analogy between calorie intake and calories burnt.

The Bottom Line
If there is one feature that can be incorporated in both these devices is an in-built GPS. That being said, these devices become all the more costly if GPS is incorporated. Both the devices are good but when it comes to pricing and an extra LCD screen feature, Fitbit Charge HR has an edge over its closest competitor- Jawbone UP3.
