Java - Integer doubleValue() method

Description

The Java Integer doubleValue() method returns the value of this Integer as a double.

Declaration

Following is the declaration for java.lang.Integer.doubleValue() method

public double doubleValue()

Parameters

NA

Return Value

This method returns the numeric value represented by this object after conversion to type double.

Exception

NA

Example 1

The following example shows the usage of Integer doubleValue() method to get double value from an Integer object. We've created a Integer variable and assign it a Integer object containing a positive integer number. Then using doubleValue method, we're obtaining the double value from this object and then printed it.

package com.tutorialspoint;
public class IntegerDemo {
   public static void main(String[] args) {
      Integer obj = new Integer(5);

      // returns the value of this Integer as a double
      double d = obj.doubleValue();
      System.out.println("Value of d = " + d);
   }
}

Output

Let us compile and run the above program, this will produce the following result −

Value of d = 5.0

Example 2

The following example shows the usage of Integer doubleValue() method to get double value from an Integer object. We've created a Integer variable and assign it a Integer object containing a negative integer number. Then using doubleValue method, we're obtaining the double value from this object and then printed it.

package com.tutorialspoint;
public class IntegerDemo {
   public static void main(String[] args) {
      Integer obj = new Integer(-5);

      // returns the value of this Integer as a double
      double d = obj.doubleValue();
      System.out.println("Value of d = " + d);
   }
}

Output

Let us compile and run the above program, this will produce the following result −

Value of d = -5.0

Example 3

The following example shows the usage of Integer doubleValue() method to get double value from an Integer object. We've created a Integer variable and assign it a Integer object containing a zero value. Then using doubleValue method, we're obtaining the double value from this object and then printed it.

package com.tutorialspoint;
public class IntegerDemo {
   public static void main(String[] args) {
      Integer obj = new Integer(0);

      // returns the value of this Integer as a double
      double d = obj.doubleValue();
      System.out.println("Value of d = " + d);
   }
}

Output

Let us compile and run the above program, this will produce the following result −

Value of d = 0.0

Example 4

The following example shows the usage of Integer doubleValue() method to get double value from an Integer object. We've created a Integer variable and assign it a Integer object containing a negative zero value. Then using doubleValue method, we're obtaining the double value from this object and then printed it.

package com.tutorialspoint;
public class IntegerDemo {
   public static void main(String[] args) {
      Integer obj = new Integer(-0);

      // returns the value of this Integer as a double
      double d = obj.doubleValue();
      System.out.println("Value of d = " + d);
   }
}

Output

Let us compile and run the above program, this will produce the following result −

Value of d = 0.0
