Display the month number with SimpleDateFormat(β€œM”) in Java

To display the month number, use the SimpleDateFormat(“M”)

// displaying month number
Format f = new SimpleDateFormat("M");
String strMonth = f.format(new Date());
System.out.println("Month Number = "+strMonth);

Since, we have used the Format and SimpleDateFormat class above, therefore import the following packages. With that, we have also used the Date.

import java.text.Format;
import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
import java.util.Date;

Example

 Live Demo

import java.text.Format;
import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
import java.util.Date;
import java.util.Calendar;
public class Demo {
   public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
      // displaying current date and time
      Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
      SimpleDateFormat simpleformat = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MMMM/yyyy hh:mm:s");
      System.out.println("Today's date and time = "+simpleformat.format(cal.getTime()));
      // displaying date
      Format f = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MMMM/yyyy");
      String strDate = f.format(new Date());
      System.out.println("Current Date = "+strDate);
      // displaying month number
      f = new SimpleDateFormat("M");
      String strMonth = f.format(new Date());
      System.out.println("Month Number = "+strMonth);
      // current time
      f = new SimpleDateFormat("HH.mm.ss Z");
      String strTime = f.format(new Date());
      System.out.println("Current Time = "+strTime);
      // displaying hour
      f = new SimpleDateFormat("H");
      String strHour = f.format(new Date());
      System.out.println("Current Hour = "+strHour);
      // displaying minutes
      f = new SimpleDateFormat("mm");
      String strMinute = f.format(new Date());
      System.out.println("Current Minutes = "+strMinute);
      // displaying seconds
      f = new SimpleDateFormat("ss");
      String strSeconds = f.format(new Date());
      System.out.println("Current Seconds = "+strSeconds);
   }
}

Output

Today's date and time = 26/November/2018 09:16:16
Current Date = 26/November/2018
Month Number = 11
Current Time = 09.16.16 +0000
Current Hour = 9
Current Minutes = 16
Current Seconds = 16
