  • The Preliminary Examination is of Objective Type (having multiple choice questions).

  • Only PT qualifying candidates are allowed for the Main Exam.

  • There is scheme of negative marking for incorrect answers (in PT).

  • For every incorrect answer, 50% marks will be deducted as penalty, e.g. each question carries 2 marks, so for wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted from the correct answer.

  • However, if a candidate chooses not to give an answer rather leave it blank, no penalty will be charged.

  • Each paper will be of two hours duration.

  • The written examination consists of seven papers.

  • Marks obtained in PT are just qualifying and hence no role in final selection or ranking.

  • Marks obtained in rest seven papers (from Paper I to Paper VII of written exam) and in interview play major role in the final selection or ranking.
