The primary purpose of QR codes is to store information in a machine-readable format that can be quickly scanned and decoded using smartphones or dedicated scanners.

FASTag

FASTag is an electronic toll collection system implemented by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in 2014. It uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to enable automatic toll payments without stopping vehicles at toll plazas.

The system consists of an RFID-enabled sticker attached to a vehicle's windshield and RFID readers at toll booths. When a vehicle approaches a toll plaza, the reader wirelessly scans the tag and automatically deducts the toll amount from the linked prepaid account or bank account.
