While measuring the length of a knitting needle, the reading of the scale at one end is 3.0 cm and at the other end is 33.1 cm. What is the length of the needle?
While measuring the length of a knitting needle, the reading of the scale at one end is 3.0 cm and at the other end is 33.1 cm.
To do:
To find the length of the needle.
Solution:
Here one end is a starting point and the other end is the endpoint as shown in the figure.
Measuring the length of the knitting needle:
The length of the needle will be the difference in the readings of scale at both ends. Let us find the length of the knitting needle by subtracting the reading at the second end from the reading at the first end:
As given, the reading of the scale at one end $=3.0\ cm$
Reading of the scale at other end$=33.1\ cm$
Therefore, the Length of the needle $=end-point\ reading-start\ point\ reading$
$=33.1\ cm-3.0\ cm$
$=30.1\ cm$
Therefore, the length of the knitting needle is $30.1\ cm$.
