When the cutting edge of a knife is put against a fast rotating stone to sharpen it, sparks are seen to fly. Explain the reason.
When we sharpen the cutting edge of a knife by putting it against a fast rotating stone, the temperature increases due to the frictional force produced between the stone and the cutting edge of the knife. And this temperature increases so high that we can see sparks while sharpenig it.
